Indeed is committed to fostering open source contributions to the external projects that we depend on, which is why we have a strong interest in campaigns such as Hacktoberfest. In 2019 we saw 200%+ contributors, 190%+ open source contributions, and 900%+ visits on internal wiki pages when compared to 2018. We also had 10%+ of our engineering organization participate in Hacktoberfest.
In 2018 we saw interest in Hacktoberfest, with (very) limited effort from our Open Source Program Office approximately 5% of our engineering organization participated. In 2019 we doubled down on our efforts and saw results that exceeded expectations. In this session, I’ll walk you through what we did to implement those changes, the most effective methods used, and lessons learned from our experience.
