Developer Community Manager

GitHub

Known as the “Hackathon Queen” I work as the Developer Community Manager for GitHub. Everyday I get to engage with the vibrant developer community. As part of the DevRel team, we’re here to listen to the community, understand them, and provide people with the tools and resources to succeed at open source. Coding and development aren’t always just about writing lines of code 👩‍💻 One of my favourite focus areas of DevOps is collaboration. You’ll find me talking about this a lot as it can really shape the end result of your product or service. I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with amazing teams throughout all my jobs and to promote this through my various hackathons and speaking engagements.

In my ‘spare’ time I’m a streamer, journalist, and always working on something exciting. One such venture is Raine Scooters, where we designed and created an electric scooter to put the fun in your daily commute ⚡🛴 I’m also the recipient of the DELL Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2019), DELL Social Media Influencer of the Year (2019), Telstra Business Woman of the Year Finalist (2019), Finalist Esports personality of the year (2018), and many more.

Future of work – why soft skills are important and how to build “the dream team”

Through the talk I’ll cover of:

  • what is current landscape of our working environment and how is it changing
  • what is the “future of work” and what are employers, and customers are looking for
  • the importance of a ‘venturing’ mindset
  • how do we upskill people for the future of work
  • why entrepreneurship (or intrapreneurship) is becoming more prevalent in today’s society
  • how do you build a ‘dream team’ to execute any project, company, or win a hackathon
  • my own experiences (drawing on hackathons, the ‘untraditional’ career path, esports, and more
